Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Tape to CD Conversion

A question posed to the forum and I can use all the help I can get:

I have a bunch of tape SBD's that I have amassed from the early days of the Internet and trading. I have been meaning to convert them to cd but life has goten in the way, now that I have the time can anyone out there steer me to an easy way to do this or a good relaible way to do this. I am semi-computer literate and I know I need a tape player to run to the computer but.... any help on this would be awesome! Thanks so much

DH53 - I love my tapes too. However, the fact that so many of these sources have been upgraded, has rendered my tapes and your tapes obsolete. Unless you have a show or show fragment which is not in circulation. Otherwise you'll simply be converting inferior sources.

Just a thought. Not by any means meant to discourage you.

No not at all I appreciate your input. I just don't want to throw away over 450 cassettes. Thanks for you answer though! Have a good night

I threw away a couple hundred. And some were made for me by Dick Latvala when he was still just Dick Latvala. Sentiment takes up a lot of space, no?

Still have mine but only one big box (100 or so). Can't get rid of them, but as Flow noted, ALL are available in better quality.

Oh, crap--most of them are 74-82!??

I think I have box around here I can use for something else to store now that I think of it...

Or you could mail them to the new archivist in CA?

If you are not totally MP3phobic, this is probably the simplest way.
